From the Superintendent:

November in Garden Valley - there were a dozen elk on Banks Lowman Road as I drove to the school and a dusting of snow up top. What a special and beautiful place.

Speaking of special, your Chamber of Commerce voted to commit some of their fundraising monies to the school's "Help Our Kids Fund," - this fund helps the needy with gloves, jackets, school supplies, etc. It is funded solely by donations, and many of them anonymous. I continually find this community to be extremely generous, thank you!

At risk of jinxing us (smile) I need to report to you that our daily attendance remains strong. We continually dodge the mass illnesses that are impacting our fellow districts. Our teachers and staff are very hand-washing aware, and our kitchen and custodial crews are keeping us extra disinfected. Think good thoughts, and let's continue to practice healthful living and keep our kids well and in school. Thank you.

As it is November and a month with a major holiday I thought some historical perspective would be good. In 1789, President George Washington created the first Thanksgiving Day designated by the new national government of the United States of America. Washington, supported by both Houses of Congress "…recommended to the People of the United States a day of public thanksgiving and prayer…" While practiced as a tradition for years, "Thanksgiving" would not become a federal holiday until 1941.

Let us all be thankful for the many blessings we have around us.

Please stop in and see me when you can. ` Mike
