Monthly Newsletter

In our class this month we continue learning about the rock cycle with Mrs. Harrold.  She has been a wealth of knowledge in this area.  This past week, the students were transformed into geologists and learned about types of rocks and the motion of the rock cycle.  They also became volcanologists and studied the types of volcanoes.  With this lesson, they used an interactive website where the students designed a volcano and then watched it erupt.  It was so very cool!  If your child would like to log on to this website at home it is http://dsc.discovery.com/convergence/pompeii/interactive/interactive.html

In Math, the students are continuing to study geometry with the introduction of types of triangles: right, scalene, and isosceles.  The students will also be working with the different angles: right angles, acute angles, and obtuse angles.  We will be making a geometry scrapbook containing all the geometric terms they have learned including: point, line, line segment, adjacent, rectangle, square, rhombus, and parallelogram.

Can you believe it is November already?  The holidays are upon us!  Here are some important dates you will want to mark on your calendar for November and December:

December 18 - Polar Express Pajama Party - Christmas activities will be occuring through out the day:  watch "The Polar Express", gift exchange, and most important...the Christmas party!
